The Story  |  About Dr. Meisner

Dr. Lorraine MeisnerDr. Lorraine Meisner has been researching the role of genetic damage in cell regulation, growth and repair throughout her academic career.

Her research on the effects of radiation began when she was still in graduate school, and this was later followed by research into the effects of chemicals in producing cell damage.

Through her company, Bioderm, Inc., she then began to investigate ways of preventing or minimizing radiation and chemical damage which led to the study of the protective effects of antioxidants such as vitamin C.

In the early 1980's she formed a collaborative effort with Michael Schinitsky, a pathologist, to study ways of repairing the effects of stress, chemical and UV damage on connective tissue.

Drs. Meisner and Schinitsky realized that UV damaged skin could be helped by vitamin C in conjunction with specific nutrients.

Together they patented a formulation that not only helps protect cells against sun-induced oxy radicals , but also stimulates collagen production.

In addition to being co-inventor of the Bioderm patented technology utilized in the Cellex-C formulation, she has several other patents in her name, as well as over 100 scientific publications.
